Dr. Victor Benavides serves as the Associate Pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church in Canton, GA. Prior to becoming Associate Pastor Victor had served with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association as a City Manager for the Franklin Graham Decision America and God Loves You Tour on the West Coast, North Carolina, Florida, Michigan, and Oklahoma cities. He also served as a Crusade phone counselor, Crisis Response to Pastors during the Pandemic, and Field Representative, City-wide Coordinator and State Coordinator with My Hope with Billy Graham campaign.
Victor has served as interim and intentional interim Pastor for various churches across metro Atlanta. He has conducted evangelism trainings nationally and internationally for churches. He also served as Adjunct Faculty with the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary at the Atlanta Hub. He started Extension Centers and taught at the Extension Center at Philips State Prison. He also served as the Georgia Regional Recruiter for NOBTS.
In addition, Victor served as the National Coordinator for the North American Mission Board with the Southern Baptist Convention, as a Strategist, in revitalizing declining churches and with new church starts in the urban centers of the mega cities. Victor also wrote several books on Evangelism principles and dynamics and directed the filming of training video for evangelism principles.
Before going to serve with the North American Mission Board, Victor served on staff at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock as Director of Evangelism, overseeing outreach, the baptism ministry which resulted in over 800 baptisms in 2001, and worked with the Hispanic pastor of a new Church plant.
Victor earned his bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from Mercer University in Macon, and his Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He obtained his Doctor of Ministry degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Victor, a Texan, met his wife, Melea, who is an Atlanta native, in El Paso in the Great state of Texas, while vacationing as teenagers. They have a son, Davin, who currently serves as the President of the School of Ministry under Cross Church in Springdale Arkansas. They have four grandchildren, Hudson, Naomi, Isabelle, and Zoe.
In his off time, Victor enjoys smoking meat, working in his yard, spending time with his family, reading, doing research, watching sports, cop, and military tv shows.
